Insights and outlooks on software development

New job!

Monday, April 7, 2008 by Thomas L

This morning, I came to think of that I've completely forgotten to mention that I've changed employer. From late march, I'm employed by Softhouse, a software consulting firm here in Malmö. I'm really excited about this, since Softhouse is very good at the Agile/Lean methodologies, and this fits well with my interest in e.g. Continuous Itegration, Test-Driven Development and Domain Driven Design. I'm actually doing something really interesting right now, I hope that will develop into something very hands-on in a couple of weeks. I'll keep you posted.

And a quite shameless plug, now that I'm a part of Softhouse: do check out Øresund Agile if you nurture an interest in anything Lean and/or Agile. Some of the speakers are Jeff Sutherland (one of the Scrum founders), Jim Coplien (guru) and Henrik Kniberg (of Scrum and XP from the Trenches fame (<-- A MUST READ)).

Recovering data

by Thomas L

I recently helped my girlfriend with recovering removed data from a SD card. I started out with trying to find a free edition of a commercial program, but nothing could find the stuff we looked for. So I found PhotoRec, and it found the data we looked for. The software is open source, runs on Windows, OS X and Linux (plus other archs as well), and is generally kick-ass. Highly recommended.
